ActiveHerb – Label Design & Brand Evolution
Evolving established brands while creating new opportunities for growth.
Over the years, I led the evolution of ActiveHerb’s product packaging across three distinct product lines. Each brand required a different approach—from carefully modernizing an established flagship product to completely reimagining a newer brand.
Guang Ci Tang
Evolutionary Label Redesign
Guang Ci Tang is ActiveHerb’s flagship brand, with a long history and a loyal customer base. The existing packaging had become dated, but completely changing the look could have disconnected the brand from the customers who already recognized and trusted it.
I developed an evolutionary label redesign that modernized the product while preserving its recognizable identity. The GCT logo was refined and modernized, while imagery of the formula’s primary herb was introduced to create a stronger visual connection to the product.
I also developed and applied updated FDA-compliant Supplement Facts and labeling requirements to the back panels, creating a more organized and professional information hierarchy while maintaining the necessary regulatory information.
ActiveHerb Granules
Evolutionary Product Line Redesign
The ActiveHerb granule line followed the same philosophy: modernize without losing brand recognition.
I updated the existing packaging system to create a cleaner, more contemporary appearance while maintaining the visual connection to the established ActiveHerb. The redesign helped bring the granule products into alignment with the updated packaging direction while keeping them recognizable to existing customers.
Modern Essentials
Complete Brand & Packaging Redesign
Modern Essentials required a very different approach. The brand was relatively new and had struggled to establish itself in the market, so rather than making incremental changes, I completely reimagined the visual direction.
I created a new, modern label print designed to give the brand a stronger shelf presence and a more contemporary personality. The redesign was also paired with upgraded printing techniques, including metallic accents and spot UV finishes, adding a premium tactile and visual quality to the label.
The result was a more distinctive brand identity designed to help Modern Essentials compete in a crowded supplement market.
